Like millions of users all over the world, I have been using WhatsApp for years. It's certainly among the best mobile messaging apps out there. However, after we published about alternatives to WhatsApp, I tried many similar apps. Since then, I've regularly used Viber along with whatsapp. Using both apps at the same time, I realized that WhatsApp is definitely better than Viber.
But why did I go for Viber in the first place? Well, I want to test a feature of Viber to automatically delete messages after a specified time has elapsed. WhatsApp is not yet offering such a feature.
WhatsApp vs Viber: Why is WhatsApp better than Viber?
The biggest problem I've found with Viber is that there can be substantial delays in delivering messages. In my case, sometimes the message gets delivered immediately; and sometimes it reaches the destination several hours later. I say this while knowing the recipient's mobile internet connection is up and working.
Fast delivery of messages should be Latest Mailing Database the most important issue in any messaging app. That's why these apps are called instant messaging apps! Many messages lose their meaning and context if they reach their destination too late. So, when Viber didn't deliver messages in a timely manner, I felt as though it went back to WhatsApp. Facebook owns WhatsApp - so it's no surprise that WhatsApp is more reliable for messaging. It must be supported by Facebook's strong infrastructure.
There is another feature in WhatsApp that makes it better than Viber's. WhatsApp ticks tell you the exact status of your message: a grey tick means the message has reached the WhatsApp servers, two grey ticks mean the message is on the recipient's phone and two blue ticks mean the Delivery that the message has been seen by the recipient. Viber does not provide any such mechanism. It only shows "Delivered" (as in and when) the message arrives at its destination.
The key and most important aspect of reliability, Viber loses big time. But features like automatic message deletion and sticker store make Viber interesting. WhatsApp has plenty of emojis, but Viber's stickers are more expressive and do great animation. With Viber stickers, it's easy to encounter regular emails like good night , how about you? I miss you so much. While Viber has some cool features, it's only a matter of time before WhatsApp can incorporate more features from its already very attractive list.
